When I first saw PixelJunk Eden I thought huh? It didn’t make any sense to me as I watched it. Out of faith from PixelJunk Monsters, I took the step and bought the game. Let me start out by saying that it is very different from Monsters and any other game at that.
The point of the game is to grow a magnificent garden from these creatures called spectra. You obtain spectra by going into other gardens and grabbing them. Spectra then go in your garden and make other levels reachable.
The game is just one of those arcade kind of looking games. It does the best of what it can do with what it is trying to do. They mix the art styles up with varying levels and places. They even allow you to change the color of your original garden as you progress through the game. I really am impressed by how well the colors flow with the art and the music. They match up so well that the music just fits like peanut butter and jelly. There are no frame rate problems and there is no screen tearing. Everything is perfect in the visual department.
Now I am not Mozart, but I found the music to be ok. Experts would say that the music is brilliant and just moving. I found it to be annoying sometimes. I loved it when some levels would be pumping up the bass and playing some weird instruments. This did get annoying after a while. I want to play my music in the game so bad that I occasionally just play without any sound on. Towards the end of the game I was so frustrated that I had to do this. This is coming from a gamer, not a musician.

There are 10 levels in the game excluding the main garden. These levels make you progressively obtain 5 spectra. You must receive each spectra one by one restarting the level after every new one found. Your monster can do numerous kinds of jumps to reach different branches and ledges. The plat forming makes you kill these little prowlers to pull pollen into seeds. You jump into the seeds and they grow. These new ledges allow you to reach spectra and other seeds. The main problem with the game is that it can be extremely frustrating. You will fall and fall and fall. After you fall you have to work your way back to where you were. If you are in Co-op, it becomes even more frustrating when you have people who are utter crap.
Final Thoughts:This game will keep you sucked in for a good 10 or so hours. After that it will push you away in frustration. This game offers a new type of plat forming, but does not offer the hook of fun to over take the personal elements. The game is decent, but if they could reduce the problems that players would have themselves, then it would make for a much better game.
