Pixeljunk Monsters Review

Pixeljunk Monsters is one of those games that will amaze and frustrate beyond imaginable. Sure the game is hard, but once you get the hang of it, it will be an extremely fun game that you won't be able to get your hands off of.

The whole point of the game is to prevent the monsters from reaching the cute little animals. Any tree you see can be turned into a tower. Ranging from flamethrowers to mortars and from cannons to arrows, the arsenal has a great variety of weapons. Most of the levels, the monsters follow a certain path to the animals and you have to make towers along the path and kill all the monsters before they reach the base. But if all of your animals die, YOU LOSE!!!

The graphics are very good for a PSN game and will give COD 4 a run for it's money. Sound is great, but the music can get annoying. Although graphics play a big part in my scoring for this game, gameplay is even better. With option menus that flow well, an easy to use sprint function and a great concept, this is one game for a great price that should not be ignored. But there are some drawbacks. Many gamers have complained that the default difficulty is too hard. I for one have had trouble with it and am currently stuck at the level, "smile". This game is very hard at first and will always be challenging, but it gets a little easier after you finish the "Easy" levels. Despite the difficulty, in my book this is a great game that i would recommend to all for purchase. Check the spoiler for screenshots!

You gave graphics an A? 0_o, its a bit far off from CoD4s graphics IMO.
Anyway I still semi-agree with the overall rating although I would have put it as a B simply because once its done its got little reply value unless you buy the expansions or get all the (excruciatingly hard) rainbows
Nevertheless it is still a great PSN game and I recommend it to anyone who hasnt bought it and are looking for a nice little puzzling game to pass the time until bigger releases like little big planet Smile

@apeh, he gave the graphics an A because that game had the right use of colors and artwork. You can't campare a game like CoD 4 to a PSN game that cost $10

Correct, the clarity of the color is great.

If you look at my PJM review I did the same thing. For what the graphics are trying to do, they are simply brilliant. I felt that the game had a ton of replay value. I loved going back to play it with a friend. Its still a challenge no matter how many times I play it.
