I don't think most of these endings will be drasitcally different. They are going to be slightly different from a few main ones. I'm pretty much sure thats how they are going to do it.

God 500 endings? That's overkill. 4 different endings is sufficient.

Yup thats exactly right, the devs said that they wouldnt be that different. Its all one story. they will only be slightly different.
