Top Ten: Console Exclusives

Yes folks you read the title right. This article is going to over the top ten games that were exclusive to one console. I will NOT be covering anything further back than the Ps2, Xbox, and Gamecube era. However, anything after that is fair game. So lets go over the top ten games that made you happy to own your console.

Number 10: God of War (Ps2)

Yeah baby. This game made me sad that my Xbox wasn’t made by Sony. My friends that had PS2s’ suddenly became overly popular, as everyone wanted to go over to their homes, and play it. I don’t blame them, this game was amazing. It had a puzzle aspect to it, which kept gamers thinking, and the combat system was unbelievably fun. Just to massacre the enemies of the gods gave such a good feeling. Taking on bosses over a thousand times your own size was almost too satisfying.

Number 9: Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)

We all remember Super Mario 64, the adventure, the variety, and the fun. This game was meant to be a “step up” from that, and my god Nintendo pulled it off. This game is too much fun, time really flies when you play this title. It’s a fantastic game, and deserves to be on this list. If there was a way I could play this game on my PS3 or 360, I would do it.

Number 8:Fable (Xbox)

This game was a full blown RPG, the first really successful game to have a great Good and Evil system. Each action you did affected your alignment. Your appearance changed depending on your alignment. If you were evil you’d get objects like horns, evil eyes, crusty skin, and your feet would emanate red mist. If you were good, you’d get a halo, little butterflies around you, bright hair, skin, and blue eyes. People would react differently towards you depending on your alignment and appearance. This game was a big one for the Xbox, and if you had it you know you don’t only play the story then chuck it away. You go from good to evil or vise versa.

Number 7: Warhawk

This game just had to make the top 10 as it gave me a reason to blow the dust off of my Ps3. To this day I still occasionally play it. It was a game where you could be in a tank, jeep, turret, or on foot however, everybody was in planes. It’s one of the best flight combat games I’ve ever played, and while it’s obviously not realistic it sure is bloody amusing. With the dodge system everybody could feel like a pro pilot with just a wiggle of an analog stick. This game helped bring the PS3 out of the darkness, and for that I give props to you Warhawk.

Number 6: Super Smash Brother Melee/Brawl (Gamecube/Wii)

These two are Amazing games. Bravo Nintendo, bravo. I had a gamecube, and whenever I had friends over, this is all we ever played. It was simply, the best party game out there. Now I find myself looking for people with a wii, and getting to know them simply because I want to play brawl. It’s an incredible series of games, and I do hope they will milk it for all it’s worth.

Number 5:Gears of War

Of course, what would an exclusive console list be without Marcus Fenix? Gears of War brought an incredible amount of light to 3rd person shooters. It had amazing graphics and gameplay all packaged in one bad as$ Locust box. The winning feature by far was adding a chainsaw onto a gun. This is abused in multi-player of course, but nothing, and I mean NOTHING is more satisfying online than cutting down another player with a chainsaw. This is simply the case because you know they are sitting in front of their TV swearing, and I have to say it’s a beautiful thing.

Number 4: Resistance: Fall of Man

This game was a PS3 launch title, and was the most anticipated launch game of them all. Good call too, this game was a great addition to the PS3 library. The story dragged you into the amazing gameplay, the guns were interesting, and the environments was always pleasing in some way to look at. People still play this game online regularly, and I don’t blame them. The online was always fun to play, especially when you do a huge match in a 20 vs. 20 battlefield. With Resistance 2 right around the corner I can’t wait to jump in and extend these massive battles onto 60 player maps.

Number 3: The Halo Series (Xbox and Xbox 360)

The pride and joy of being an Xbox gamer. Halo 3 was the reason so many people even bought a 360 in the first place. The series always did great, ever since the first installment. Playing this split-screen with 3 friends is an experience I will never forget. It was a big step for it’s time, and it re-constructed the four player death match concept. Many games tried to copy this, but failed miserably making Halo a unique title among thousands of shooters. Bungie has said Halo 3 was the last in the series, but will it be? Halo wars is on the horizon, but will they stop there? Just imagine the death match voice saying “Bungie is the Juggernaut”.

Number 2: Metal Gear Solid 4

Old snake, what a man. Call him Solid Snake if you want to, but he’s one old son of a b*tch in this game. Nevertheless, he still dominates the PlayStation market with the unique “choose your own path” system, where you can use stealth and go undercover or load up on ammunition, and go guns blazing. Or . Both ways are well designed, and will satisfy you till the last cut scene. It has excellent replay value, giving you the option to buy full camo (making you completely invisible), or buying a bandana (giving you unlimited ammo). There is also an option of buying tranquilizer bullets that make your enemies feel different emotions (anger or fear for example). Great job Snake.

Number 1: Blu-ray player.

Notice the title, I never said just games. The blu-ray disk reader is exclusive to the PS3, and will be the main reason the PS3 will eventually rise above the 360, and the Wii. This is Sony’s “Ace in the Hole”, and will be the reason for their inevitable victory. At the time of release, it wasn’t a huge deal, but now that the HD-DVD vs. Blu-ray battle is over, the PS3 suddenly looks a lot better, and has a brighter future. Sony really thought through this feature many times, and picked the right choice. Good Job to Sony, for advancing consoles to a new level.

Look at that, 5 of those exclusives are the playstation brand, just goes to show that Playstation has better exclusives.

I also thought that Uncharted should have been in there besides Warhawk, I think Uncharted is better than Warhawk, but that may be just me.
